London Corinthians Testimonial: Nathaniel Henry, Health Economist

December 30, 2012

Ok, so this isn’t our Nathaniel Henry, but it is a Nathaniel Henry. This one was a 19th century American general.

Q: When and why did you join London Corinthians?

I joined LC April 2012 to get into a routine of speaking publicly, intending in the process to enhance my delivery and assurance when speaking.

Q: How has it helped you as a public speaker?

As well enabling me to hone the delivery of my speeches, the useful feedback received from members has increased my awareness of the many non-verbal aspects of public speaking, bolstering my ability to engage with audiences during speeches.

Q: Why do you think toastmasters has been so successful in producing top public speakers?

Toastmasters provides an excellent forum in which both inexperienced speakers and seasoned veterans can regularly speak and learn from one another. The structured way in which all speakers are evaluated means that invaluable tips are transferred to participants, who can continue to build their expertise over time.

Q: Why is LC the best TM club in London?

LC is particularly unique due to the density of top calibre speakers from whom one can learn and seek advice. It’s also good fun, with each session being lively and entertaining – key to retaining members and fostering an atmosphere in which new speakers are unafraid to engage and deliver speeches.

Q: What final advice would you give someone wanting to improve their public speaking ability?

Get stuck in as soon as you can! Real progress comes through continued practice. Virtuosic performances are not necessary to participate, and the process of finding out what works for you as you speak is rewarding – not to mention useful for all future functions requiring you to stand up and speak.
